• Skating on Thin Ice by Jami Davenport

He trusts his gut, she trusts her numbers, and neither trusts the other, as a billionaire’s mission to bring hockey to Seattle clashes with his passion for the woman who holds his heart.

Ethan Parker, a billionaire determined to bring a professional hockey to Seattle, will stop at nothing to realize his dream. After signing an agreement to purchase another city’s team, Ethan is anxious to make the move to Seattle, but a gag order by the League forces him to keep the sale a secret until the season ends, leaving him no choice but to go undercover as a consultant to study his team during the playoffs.

Lauren Schneider, Assistant Director of Player Personnel for the Giants hockey team, gets no respect from the team’s testosterone-loaded staff. When Ethan bursts onto the scene, full of charm and genuinely interested in her opinions, she shares the team’s weaknesses and discovers a weakness of her own–for Ethan. But when his true identity is revealed, and he starts cleaning house based on her unwitting input, his betrayal cuts deeply on both a professional and personal level. Bound by an employment contract, Lauren reluctantly moves to Seattle to work for the newly christened Seattle Sockeyes and her sexy, infuriating boss.

Lauren and Ethan must come to terms with their passions–for the team, for hockey, and for each other. Will their situation build a frozen wall between them, or will their love burn hot enough to melt the ice shielding their hearts?

This is the story I have been waiting for!  In CRASHING THE BOARDS (Seattle Sockeyes 1.5), which was part of the Seduced by the Game Anthology that supported the Fight against cancer, we first meet Ethan and Lauren as the new owners and hosts for the party that Cooper attends.

This story is the prequel to that.  Here is the story of how they fell in love and how and why the Sockeyes came to Seattle.  I knew I was in love with Ethan in CTB, now it is cemented.  He has a heart of gold and a passion for hockey and for Seattle.  Lauren loves hockey, she is thrilled when Ethan takes her opinions seriously.

Reading this story I was pleased that they didn’t just jump into bed minutes after meeting.  They truly became friends first.

I love how Jami tells a story.  It is realistic yet passionate.  I cannot wait to see what comes next!

An advocate of happy endings, Jami Davenport writes sexy contemporary and sports romances, including her two new indie endeavors: the Game On in Seattle Series and the Madrona Island Series.  Jami lives on a small farm near Puget Sound with her Green Beret-turned-plumber husband, a Newfoundland cross with a tennis ball fetish, a prince disguised as an orange tabby cat, and an opinionated Hanoverian mare. She works in computer support in her day job and juggles too many balls, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Lauren followed Ethan to the arena concourse. The Giants lost a heartbreaking game, and thinking about it made Lauren sick to her stomach.

Right now she should be thinking life didn’t get better than this. Despite their first loss, they were still in it, skating in their first playoff series in years; next to her stood a man who might well be the team’s savior, and he was an incredibly attractive man.

His eyes lit up with unbridled enthusiasm every time they discussed the team and its potential, almost as if he had a personal stake in the Giants, rather than being a hired consultant. She loved the interest he showed in all aspects of the team; hopefully, his employers shared his enthusiasm.

Yet, his level of enthusiasm and involvement didn’t quite fit, and niggling suspicions that things weren’t as they seemed prevented Lauren’s complete trust in the man, not that she trusted easily. She’d been burned too many times from family members to friends to lovers to one cheating husband. It made a girl cautious as to whom she granted that precious trust. Ethan would need to earn it by his actions and his words. For now, she’d enjoy looking at him, because that was purely a joy, and feeding him positive tidbits about the team and staff. That very team who’d lost its first playoff game by one goal.

“I want to see how the coach and team handle the loss,” Ethan said, grim determination etched on his handsome face.

“The coach doesn’t like anyone in the locker room directly after the game.”

Ethan gave her one of those looks which clearly said he didn’t give a shit what the coach did or didn’t like, but he’d damn well do as he pleased. Turning, he showed security his badge and headed down the tunnel with Lauren on his heels.

“Ethan, this isn’t a good idea.” The infuriating man kept walking, which really pissed her off. He barged into the locker room with her hot on his heels then stopped so abruptly that she bumped into his backside.

The players sat around the locker room on benches, heads hanging, frowns on their faces, and in various states of undress. Lauren had seen the men many times before in this situation, but this was sacred ground, and Ethan did not belong in here.

Coach Ferrar, fondly known as Coach Fur by staff and team alike, stopped mid-sentence and glared at the unwelcome intruders. While Coach wanted the Sleezers out of team ownership, he, like Lauren, didn’t exactly trust Ethan either, and even worse, he hated change. As Lauren saw it, the coach figured the devil he knew—the Sleezers—was better than the devil he didn’t, in the form of Ethan and his anonymous employers.

At the coach’s silence, every player glanced up, their gazes shifting from Coach to Ethan and back to Coach. They held their collective breaths, as if sensing a good fight in the making, and Lauren bet all the money was on Coach.

She glanced at Ethan, who didn’t seem the least bit affected by the coach’s laser sharp gaze. “Just pretend I’m not here.”

“It’d be better if you weren’t,” Coach Fur growled.

Ethan didn’t move. Instead he smiled as if Coach couldn’t possibly be referring to him.

“Look, I know we’ve been ordered to cater to you, and God knows we want the Sleezers out of ownership, but that doesn’t mean you can walk in here like you own the place. This is private business between the team and coaches.”

A muscle ticked in Ethan’s strong jaw, but his calm voice echoed through the silent room. “I’m examining all aspects of this team for the prospective owners, including the locker room atmosphere.”

The team captain, Cooper Black, muttered something to his buddy, Cedric.

“What was that, Black? You got something to say, say it so I can hear it.”

Coop’s eyes narrowed, and he met Ethan’s direct gaze with a challenging one of his own. “I said since when do owners—prospective or otherwise—give a shit about what goes on in the locker room as long as we win on the ice?”

“This group does. They’re very hands-on.”

“Great, just what I fucking need. Owners who think they can tell me how to coach.”

Coach slapped his clipboard against his thigh, obviously beyond annoyed. Several of the guys nodded their heads in agreement.

“And me how to play,” Cooper didn’t seem impressed with Ethan or his billionaire employers.

“I’ve interrupted enough. I’ll fade into the background. Continue as if I’m not here.” Ethan wasn’t the least bit moved by their words, or put off. He just shrugged and took a seat as if he was one of the guys. Lauren wrung her hands and tried to think of a way to get him out of there. No one came into the locker room directly after the game. No one. Coach would have her head for letting Ethan in, as if she could have stopped him.

Ethan sat back as if he were in a movie theatre and the show was about to begin. Lauren wanted to throttle the man with her bare hands.

Realizing their unwelcome guest wasn’t leaving, the coach turned to his team. “It’s only game one. We know a lot more about our opponents than we did yesterday. We’ll get them tomorrow. That’s it, guys. Meet back here in the morning, usual time.”

He purposely didn’t say what time to keep Ethan out of the loop. The team stood, going back to their post-game routines. Ethan met Lauren’s gaze and raised a decidedly amused eyebrow.

“Don’t you think we should leave now?”

Ethan sighed and stood. He held the door open for her and she gladly exited from the locker room. As soon as they were in the hallway, she turned on him. “What the fuck did you think you were doing?”

“I told you. I’m evaluating the team and its operations.” His calm voice infuriated her even more, and she did have a bit of her father’s temper.

“And that includes invading the sacred sanctuary of the coach’s post-game speech?”
“It especially means that. I wanted to see how coaches and players handled the loss. How a team handles losing is more important than how they handle winning. Do they mope, do they get fired up, do they hang their heads in defeat, or do they immediately look to the next game and what they can do better?”

“They handled the loss fine, but they didn’t handle you fine.”

  • Blue Moon Books by A. E. Via

On September 26, 2014, the second book in the Blue Moon books was released, This is Reality.  In the first book, we are introduced to Angel and Max and their friends and family.  We watch them fall in love and overcome many obstacles along the way.

In this second book, we take at the love stories of Hawk, Pierce, Shot & Fox along with some of the other Beastmasters.  We had small intros to these stories in the first book, but in this second book, we get a more in depth look.

Of the two books, I like the first one better.  Not saying the second one is not full of love, passion and action, because it is.  However, I was able to get more emotionally attached to Max and Angel.

That being said, however, I did enjoy Hawk and Pierce’s story.  Hawk just has that mystery that surrounds him that attracts me.

Ultimately the one thing about both books that I love, is how we see more than the two main characters.  I really enjoy seeing the same story through other POVs.  It gives you more to the story, and rounds it out.  All in all, both book are worth giving a read.

If you like to read about hot men who find love and passion with each other while their very lives are on the line, then the Blue Moon books are for you.  I give both books 5 Hearts!!!

It is a hot and awsome read.

Ryker has always been Max’s protector and his guide their entire lives, which has left him feeling uncared for and alone to handle his own life’s problems. Ryker craves to be taken care of, he craves the attention and praise of a Master. No one knows the dark desires within him until Angel’s Chief of Security, Sebastian ‘Bass’ Bagatelli, shatters that secret with their first intense encounter.

How will Angel win the heart of the straight firefighter that was tailor-made just for him? Will Max be able to continue denying his feelings for another man? Can Ryker and Bass get through their personal issues to take and receive what they both need from each other? Or will they each give up on a happiness that appears too good to be true?

BLUE MOON II: THIS IS REALITY

Pierce aka Strategic Intelligence Specialist, Backhander is back to flush out some of the DEA’s most notorious criminals, and he has  one helluva’ team backing him up. The country’s most decorated Navy Seals…the Beastmasters.

Pierce is more than capable of doing his job, but he has one insanely hot distraction that continuously causes him to second guess his hidden orientation– Dane Aramis, call-sign, Hawk. Hawk can see what most people can’t, and whether his sexy Pierce wants to admit
it or not, he can see the brilliant man’s desire runs deep for him.  Hawk is not the type of Seal to lose his man. Pierce will be his.

However, when Pierce and the Beastmasters are on their final assignment, the last person they expect to encounter with the opposition is rogue assassin…Omega.   The man is unstoppable, and when he comes too close to what Hawk holds dear, the Beastmasters call on the only man that can control the lethal assassin. Omega’s faster more skilled brother, Alpha.

Bringing Alpha – the deadliest man in the world that has no allegiances and no alliances back into society may be disastrous for everyone involved. But, Hawk is willing to take that risk to keep Pierce safe.

“Something on your mind, Backhander?” Hawk’s eyes stayed on him, locking him in place.

    Stay cool.

“Yes. I commanded you to stand down. I wanted those men alive for interrogation. Dead suspects can’t help me,” Pierce said while staring at Hawk’s forehead.

Hawk raised one corner of his sexy mouth and stepped in closer to him. “I follow no one’s commands. My allegiance is to the Beastmasters, not the DEA, not the FBI, not the CIA, and for damn sure, not you.” Hawk accented each statement with a step closer to Pierce. “You’re fooling yourself if you think by running off a few high-ranking smugglers and traffickers that you’re making a difference. When you cut off the snake’s tail, he grows another one.”

After repeatedly backing up from Hawk’s advances, Pierce’s back was up against the side of the eighteen-wheeler. It was just him and Hawk, the dark stillness of the night, and one massive-ass gun at his side. The rifle was over half the length of the man wielding it.

Pierce looked down at the weapon and back up into Hawk’s eyes. “Do you have the safety switched on on that thing?”

Hawk snorted at Pierce’s comment. “Safety? No. Why? Are you afraid of my weapon, Backhander?”

Damn this man has no respect for personal space.

“You need to back the fuck up.” Pierce tried to inject some venom into his voice. Hawk had his entire body pressed up against him, his six-foot four inch height making his shoulder length brownish-blond hair fall down onto Pierce’s face, cocooning him from the cool breeze coming off the mountains of Roanoke, Virginia.

“First, I want to clarify a couple of things, Backhander. This sexy beauty beside me is my weapon, and don’t you worry, it would never be used to harm one hair on that pretty little head of yours. Now this is my gun.” Hawk thrust his cock hard into Pierce’s front, making him grunt at the pain and holy fuck, the pleasure.

“You keep accusing me of ‘liking to get my gun off’, right?” Hawk smiled down on him. He lowered his plush lips to Pierce’s ear and groaned against it.

Pierce closed his eyes. God help me.

“You keep shooting of that sexy mouth of yours Backhander, and I’m going to show you just how I get my motherfuckin’ gun off,” Hawk hissed.

Pierce pushed at Hawk’s much larger frame but of course he didn’t budge – he never did. “Back-off damnit. I told you I’m not interested,” Pierce argued weakly.

“I see differently, beautiful. But that’s okay.” Hawk backed up. “I’ll leave you to it, and watch you come around.”

Hawk made his way to the back of the eighteen-wheeler and hoisted himself and his weapon into the trailer. Pierce tried not to look at Hawk’s ass in the loose army fatigues, or the way his back muscles rippled underneath his army green t-shirt. Pierce didn’t look away fast enough and he knew he’d been caught ogling. Hawk flashed him a shit-eating grin, and winked at Pierce right before he slammed the metal doors.

    Cocky bastard.

  • Boystown Series by Jake Biondi

Jake emailed me this week and asked me if I would like to review his series, Boystown.  I look him up on his website and I decided to give him a chance.  I could go and copy the synopsis of both books and then just paste them here, but, click here and you can read that there.

Upon starting to read the book, notice two things right from the get get go.  If you notice , each book is not Book One and Book Two, but rather Season One and Season Two.  There are no Chapters in these books but rather Episodes.

As I read, I always have the television on and I know all the lingo they use.  So I decided, as I read this book, to see it as a soap opera.  So, as far as I am concerned I wasn’t reading books, but screenplays with direction written.  I have never read books in this style.  Usually books play in my head more like a movie.    Please note, although these books are majorly m/m, there are also m/f scenes also.  There is one m/f married couple and a complete Bitch who screws everyone.  And, there is rape contained in Season One.

If you watch soap operas, then these books are definitely something you should read.  There is revenge, adultery, action, hospital scenes, tragedy, and of course hot passion.   If you have watched soaps (mine were Ryan’s Hope, Days of Our Lives, Another World and Santa Barbara), then I know you will like these books.  In fact, in my own opinion, these books should be made into the soap opera I imagine it to be.  I know I would watch it.  (Any producers out there??)

I give this series 4.5 Stars!

  • Kiss Me Series by Michele Zurlo

These stories are written in narrative format.  It took me a while to get into it. Think the way the narrator from Stand by Me tells the story and interjects at times.  Or even how Carrie Bradshaw narrates through an episode of Sex in the City.  Once I did get used to this type of writing, I couldn’t stop reading these books.

This is the love story of Lacey and Dylan.  Lacey has severe OCD and PTSD from a hell of childhood.  Dylan, who suffers from a few issues himself, falls head over heels with Lacey from the moment his lap was covered in Latte.

I could relate to Lacey.  I really got her and her tendencies.  I check the stove many times.  I even make sure I really locked my doors.  So yeah I get her.  She was highly flawed and she owned it.   Dylan sees her, understands her, and helps her.  Along the way, some of Lacey’s flaws are an asset to her and to Dylan.  She helps Dylan with his band, Kiss me Goodbye, and gets them seen.

Lacey tries to push everyone away as a defense.  When she meets Thomas, she tries to push Dylan away.  Good thing Dylan won’t let her.  He waits and when he sees the opening he needs he goes for it.

In the second book, we see that one little lie can affect those you love the most.  Be careful what you wish for, you will get it.    Just when Lacey decides to end her suffering fate steps in.

I could tell from the beginning, that although the journey to their happily ever after would be hard filled with heartache, they would ultimately achieve it.  You laugh, you cry, and you fall in love right along with Lacey and Dylan.

The Kiss Me Series by Michele Zurlo is a 5 Heart Read
