  • Clipped by Love by Toni Aleo

    My Review

There is nothing like reading this book while having French Onion soup while sitting at the bar at Applebees with tears in your eyes. Because that is what happened while I was reading this book. Thank the Lord there were plenty of napkins. One minute I am crying from laughing so hard and the next because I was so touched.

Baylor a really strong woman on the outside, but like any character deep down, she has wounds that only love can heal.

Jayden is strong. He has to be because he is the man of the family. The minute he saw Baylor he knew she was different than any other woman he has ever seen. And he fell that fast. I love how patient he was with her. He is what most call a total KEEPER.

This book is fun, touching and just wonderful entertainment.

Things are heating up for the Sinclair boys! Withone already in the NHL, Jayden Sinclair is hoping to be next!

This has been the toughest year of my life. I watched my brother go into the draft without me, my mom got divorced, and the weight of my family’s issues is heavy on my shoulders. I feel like it’s my job to fix everything while working my butt off in school and trying to make my game better. I have to go into the draft. It will give my family the support they need, and it will prove that I’m good enough. But to get there, I have to show I can be the best captain for the Bellevue Bullies. The spot is mine—no one can take it. First though, Jude is making me go on a brother’s weekend. Innocent enough, I guess…until I see her. She’s the biggest competitor I’ve ever faced. Not only for my spot but also my heart. It’s hard to ignore someone like Baylor Moore.

I don’t lose. I can’t. My dad has bred me to be the best in anything I do. I am driven, I am smart, and I am going to be the first woman in the National Hockey League. No two ways about it. I’ve worked too hard. I’ve been through too much not to have what I want. I know I can do it. I will make my dad proud, and no one will stand in the way of that. That is, until I let him in. He scares me. He makes me feel. And he could very well be the one person who can make me want more than just to win.

We both have the same goal. Victory. But how do you compete against the person you want to win? It’s not easy. Love isn’t something you can control. It isn’t like a puck that can be handled by a stick. No, it has a mind of its own and does what it wants.

Neither of us saw it coming, and we really don’t know if there is a way to score, especially when you’re being Clipped by Love.

  • The Sons of Sangue Series

This post is in celebration of the release tomorrow of the third book of the Sons of Sangue, Gypsy.  Join us at the Gypsy’s event on the 28th on Facebook.  Prizes will be gift cards, mugs, donor tags, autographed books, etc.

    My Review

I first heard about this series at a book club meeting (love the Book Obsessed Chicks!). People were talking about this vampire biker series and that they couldn’t wait for the third book to come out. Well, that day is tomorrow, I am lucky enough to have been asked to review it. But, I am going to do more than that. I am going to review all three books.

This series is like Sons of Anarchy meets Black Dagger Brotherhood.

17982861In book 1 we meet the MC President Kane “Viper” Tepes. 10 years ago while he was feeding in the ladies room, he caught  a glimpse of her. That is all it took. Now, 10 years later Cara is trying to solve 3 murders. Who is her primary suspects….you got it. The Sons of Sangue. Cara just can’t resister Viper. The pull to him is just too much. She finds herself pulled in two directions and ultimately it is her life on the line. It will be up to Viper to save the woman he loves. I love how Cara is a strong female character. The only time she is the girlie girl is when she is in Viper’s arms. I love Vampires and how possessive of their women they are.

21816987Book 2 is Hawk. He now finds himself wearing the P patch and he is trying to resist the one woman he has always wanted. No matter how much Suzie tries to get Hawk to see her, it seems he wants nothing to do with her. She knows it is because of Ion, but he is not around anymore. There are times where I just want to smack him upside the head. Really, let the girl talk to you! When someone is gunning for Hawks head, literally, the MC does everything they can to keep that from happening.  When Hawk sees himself at death’s door, my favorite character comes to save the day!  Noooo I not gonna tell you who that is!!!!

It is almost comical.  The manwhore of the Sons got a mate when he wanted her or not.  Ok, he may want her, but he didn’t like how he got her.  When his best friend decided to step in on his behalf, Gypsy didn’t like it one bit.  And when Vlad steps in, he feel cornered and conflicted all over again.

Tamara only had eyes for Gypsy.  When an opportunity presents itself to not only be with him, but be with him forever, she takes it.

I love the twist to this whole story, which of course I can’t tell you about.  She is patient and knows that if she just waits long enough, he will be hers.  She was naive at one point, but when it comes down to it, she knows where her loyalties lie.

On a side note, all I know is that with every book Vlad is by far my favorite character of the series.  I am told, there is a battle between fans of whose Book boyfriend he is.  I don’t care who ultimately gets him, as long as they share!!!

    Gypsy Book 3

Grayson “Gypsy” Gabor loves the ladies. As a matter of fact, the more the merrier. Life is good. That is until a mishap with a sexy-as-hell redhead leaves them mated. The eldest of vampires, Vlad Tepes, gives him a choice: Keep her or give her up for all eternity to his one-time best friend, Anton.

Tamera Cantrell sets her sights on the Vice President of the Sons of Sangue, Gypsy. But after a night gone wrong, she finds herself caught between one vampire who hates her and one who adores her. Now Tamera’s only got three short months to prove to the one who despises her that he can’t live without her.

Add in one Mexican Cartel, a vindictive primordial vampire, and a rival MC out for blood, and Gypsy has his hands full with club business. When Tamera’s life becomes endangered, Gypsy must act quick or chance losing her forever.

    Viper – Book 1

Kane ‘Viper’ Tepes is one of the oldest living descendants of Vlad III. Vampirism is in his blood. So is being the President of the Sons of Sangue. Those who break motorcycle club rules that protect their coven are dealt swift punishment. No exceptions. Until one pretty little detective has him compromising his beliefs, and endangering his position as head of the MC.

Vampirism had Cara Brahnam turning tail and leaving behind her life in Pleasant. Now, ten years later, she’s back as lead detective and wants to see the person responsible for draining the women of Lane County brought to justice, no matter what deal the gang of miscreants has struck with the sheriff. Or the fact that her number one suspect is the sole reason she fled in the first place.

Now someone has targeted Cara as the next victim and Kane must join in the hunt to find the ancient vampire that wants her dead.

    Hawk – Book 2

Kaleb “Hawk” Tepes, as president of the Sons of Sangue and descendant of Vlad III, needs to keep his head focused on club business. Trouble is someone wants to divest him of it for a crime he committed against his vampire predecessors. He can’t afford distractions, especially those that come in the form of a five-foot-two sprite named Suzi, who once belonged to his nephew. In a moment of weakness, he makes a snap decision that can only spell trouble. Now faced with the one person who wants him dead, Kaleb must make the ultimate sacrifice or chance losing the only woman he truly desired forever.

Suzi Stevens has tried hard to put her past behind her and move forward. The one man she yearns for over all others, believes her to be nothing but cold-hearted. Hearing that someone has tried to behead him, she shelves past prejudices and rushes to his side, needing to see for herself that he’s all right. What she doesn’t count on is Hawk’s demand to take her as his personal blood donor. Now forced to endure his company, she fears losing her heart for all eternity to the one person who has the power to crush her.

EXCLUSIVE excerpt from Sons of Sangue: Gypsy

Tamera let out a sigh and prepared for battle. It always was with Grayson. “What do you want, Gypsy?”

“Now that’s no way to treat your mate.”

“Then maybe you need to act like one.”

His nostrils flared, his obsidian gaze traveling the length of her.

    “Don’t tempt me.”

Tamera laughed, feeling none of the humor. “That’s rich, Gypsy. I could strip naked and lay in that bed and you still wouldn’t act like a mate. So what is your real reason for being here?”

    “What about him?”

“Stay the fuck away from him.”

“Are you serious? You don’t want me. You’ve made that perfectly clear.” Tamera’s voice trembled in her rising ire. “Vlad isn’t giving me much of a choice here. It’s you or Blondy. And you have made it perfectly clear you don’t want in on that equation.”

“You are still my mate until I say otherwise.”

“Since when have I been anything other than a thorn in your side?”

“E così vero, it is so true, il mio dolce rossa.”

Tamera hated when he called her my sweet red. It was a wasted term of endearment. His gaze traveled about the room, no doubt seeing little change. Tamera had been careful not to put her stamp on the place. She wanted Grayson to be able to move back in without his room being a constant reminder of her as the previous occupant should she be given to Anton. He shouldn’t have to suffer for her actions. Even though she wished Grayson would pick her, she certainly couldn’t fault him if he didn’t. That didn’t mean she would make his decision easy for him. Hell no, she would fight him every step of the way.

His black eyes landed on the unmade bed and stayed a long moment before glancing back at her. “You haven’t taken communion.”

It wasn’t a question, it was an accusation. She crossed her arms over her breasts, trying damn hard to ignore the fact his desire had kicked up when he had taken in the satin sheets. The scent of human blood all over him overshadowed that of his rising lust. He hadn’t bothered cleaning up before entering his old domain. Normally, he wouldn’t have come near his old room while she occupied it. Why now?

    “Like you care.”

“I’m not heartless, il mio dolce rossa.”

Tamera let out a harrumph. “You could’ve fooled me.”

“Never doubt that I desire you. That has never been an issue.” He took the last few steps separating them, leaving only a hand’s width between them. He leaned down, close enough his breath fanned her cheeks. “Trust me, il mio dolce rossa, I would much rather fuck you than stand here arguing with you.”

Tears welled in her eyes. “You’re quite the romantic. You sure know how to woo a woman.”

“There is nothing romantic about my intentions where you’re concerned.”

Grayson’s lips were but a breath away from touching hers, and God help her, she wanted to taste him, no matter how crude he treated her. And damn if she didn’t hate herself for it.

“Then why not take what you want?” Tamera fisted her hands at her sides to keep from reaching out and touching him. “You and I both know I would never deny you. I’m already yours.”

The infuriating vampire growled, but instead took a step back. She felt the separation like a bucket of ice water. “Don’t mistake my desire for anything other than it is, Tamera. No matter what my dick wants, my heart still hates you.”

She couldn’t have stopped the tears from falling if she tried. The last thing she wanted was to give Grayson her dignity, and yet she had just handed it to him. Her heart ached at his beauty, beauty which would always be denied her. He really was a son of a bitch. She wanted to hate him, return his scorn. Yet, she only felt the heartache.

Another knock sounded on the door. Grayson’s gaze stayed focused on hers. “Come in,” he growled his response.

A young female donor walked into the room. Too cute for Tamera’s liking. She grit her aching teeth as she watched Grayson’s eyes roam over the petite young blonde, the complete opposite of her. Bastard. Tamera thought he meant to feed from the woman, right there in front of her, but instead he walked beyond the donor and said over his shoulder, “Eat,” before he quit the room.

Tamera collapsed to the bed, no longer having the energy to stand. But before she could succumb to tears, the young donor walked over, knelt between her spread knees and tilted her head to the side, offering Tamera her artery. She could no longer deny herself. Grasping the woman’s neck in one hand, Tamera sank her fangs into the donor’s flesh and drew in deep, mimicking the donor’s moan at the first taste of the woman’s blood.

  • Baked Fresh by Annabeth Albert

    My Review

I have to say that this second installment  of the Portland Heat was a better read than the first one, Served Hot.  I could relate to Vic and his struggle with his weight.  He chose to go through lap band surgery and lost a lot of weight.  I have to give him mega credit since he is a cook and cake decorator.  He has to be careful with what he eats.  But, Vic wanted to lose this weight for a few reasons; 1.  He wanted to get healthy because his dad died young; and 2. he wanted the guy he has fallen in love with to notice him.

Robin had a very troubled childhood.  He turned to drugs and did things he was ashamed of.  Now he volunteers at the shelter that helped him when he needed it most.

Vic is so loving and nice, Robin can’t stay away from him.  Who would want to?  He can cook and help you through your sexual malfunctions. A great story!

From its famous coffee to the mouthwatering fare at its cafés, restaurants, and bakeries, Portland, Oregon, has a lot to whet the appetite, including the hard-working men who serve it all up—hot, fresh, and ready to go—with no reservations…

Vic Degrassi is a baker on the rise, and it’s all thanks to his rare ability to make—and keep—his New Year’s resolutions. Whether it’s losing weight, giving up smoking, or graduating from culinary school, Vic goes after what he wants—and gets it. This year? He wants Robin Dawson, the sweet-hearted hottie who volunteers with him at the local homeless shelter.

When he learns that Robin is suddenly single after being unceremoniously dumped, Vic is more than happy to offer a shoulder to cry on—or at least a fresh-baked pastry to bite into. But it’s been a long time since Vic’s gone on a date, and he’s nervous about risking his friendship with Robin. So when their flirtation turns into a steamy night together, Vic and Robin have to figure out if they’re friends with benefits or lovers in the making, and if Robin is ready for something more than just a rebound. There’s only one way to find out: turn up the heat…

  • Wait for Morning by Nicole Edwards

    My Review

Wow how scary to have to be away from your family and friends for over a year and never feel safe.  Marissa lived that.  Then the one man she ever wanted came and was her knight in shining armour.  Trace is just simply delicious.  I want to eat him up with a spoon!    They have loved each other for so long, that everyone around them knew before they did.

This book is full of suspense, drama and hotter than hell passion.  I love that the book’s POV changes to more than just the main couple’s.  We get to know the other characters and get sneak peeks into what their upcoming stories may be about.  I am especially looking forward to Ryan and Z.  That will be a really hot story!

Welcome to Sniper 1 Security.  Wait for Morning is the first in a new series called Sniper 1 Security. This series will focus around two families that are in the private security business. This book is different for Nicole as it’s the first for her in the romantic suspense genre. For readers, they will find the normal Nicole Edwards style of writing, with a nice mixture of excitement, suspense and her erotic touches where needed. For the die-hard Nicole Edwards fans, they will see a bit less of the erotic, but when it’s present it will set your e-reader on fire!

Trace Kogan will go to any length to protect those who need protecting. That is the business he is in; the business his father, Casper Kogan, started with Bryce Trexler more than thirty-five years ago. Trace spends day and night eliminating threats to clients, so when the danger hits too close to home, he won’t let anything come between him and the woman who desperately needs his help.

His fear… the physical reaction he has to Marissa may pose a bigger danger than the ghost that they find themselves up against.

Marissa Trexler has spent the last twelve months of her life in hiding, tucked away in one safe house after another for her own protection. The threat to her is real even if the reason is still unknown. Strangely, whoever is after her seems to find her no matter where she goes, leading her family to believe it’s an inside job.

So when the decision is made that Trace will provide personal protection, she can’t say no, even if being close to him adds another level of danger… and this one is to her heart.

  • Clash: A Legal Affairs Story by Sawyer Bennett

     My Review

Clash, a novella, is the first book in this Legal Affairs trilogy , and is the story of Cal and Macy.  Cal has hurt people he love, has been hurt by someone he thought he loved.  Then there is Macy.  To him, she is only a stuck up rich bitch. Unfortunately , she is also hot as hell.

Macy never had a good relationship with her family.  She medicates herself using sex.  I mean she even screwed her psychologist for goodness sake.  The one guy she would never want is Cal.  Except, he is really hot.  After a spat with the caterer, Macy want to  “medicate” herself, and who is around willing and waiting?  YUP!!  After hot time in the pantry, she does the one thing she never does…..invites him for a second reandeau.

He is torn if he should call her.  She is curious to know why he hasn’t called her.  Now that he has to represent her and they are in a meeting she asks and then…….a freaking cliffhanger!!! Nooooooooooo!!!  I guess I will have to wait for Grind (releasing on 4/21/15) and Yield  (releasing on 5/5/15) to find out what happens next!  Thankfully both Grind and Yield are full length novels.

    Clash (verb): to conflict, disagree.

It might be fair to say that I despise Macy Carrington. She slings insults with precision, not caring about the destruction she leaves in her wake. We clash in a battle of wills every time we’re around each other, and yet… I still fantasize about being lodged deep within her body.

Clash (verb): to come together or collide.

I have never encountered someone that grates me the way Cal Carson does. His pompous, arrogant demeanor. A holier-than-thou attitude. Any interaction with “Saint Cal” ends in a verbal clash of epic proportions, and yet… there’s no one I’d rather have in my bed than him.

Clash (noun): a battle, fight or skirmish.

Her breathy moans mingle with the sound of our flesh coming together, clashing with the silence that surrounds us, dispelling any notions I once had about Macy Carrington.

Maybe I can break down her walls if we can call a truce to this battle.

He whispers filthy words in my ear, provoking feelings I never knew were possible. The burning desire in his touch clashes with everything I once believed about Cal Carson.

Maybe he can be the balm I need to soothe my broken soul, if only temporarily.
