  • Michelle Roth Takeover!

I am so happy to host an author I just adore on my blog today…..Michelle Roth!

Hi there, everyone! I’m Michelle Roth and I’m here to introduce my latest release, Shakedown. Diamond and Diamond is a bit of a departure from anything that I’ve written thus far. My previous works have all been ultra-realistic contemporary romance. Shakedown still has the sexy, steamy elements just like any other erotic romance, but it also incorporates a bit of suspense and mystery as well. I certainly hope you enjoy!

Private Detective Mike Diamond is the low man on the totem pole. More often than not he finds himself investigating insurance fraud or cheating spouses. When he’s assigned a dog-napping case, he is on the brink of refusing until he meets the client. One look at her changes everything.

When the police refuse to investigate her case, Cassidy Werner turns to Diamond and Diamond Private Investigators. Despite the bad first impression he’s given her, Cassidy still hires Mike to help her find her prize Tibetan Mastiff. As she gets to know him, she realizes that he’s not only dedicated to getting Roddy back for her, but also a pretty great guy.

Right after she receives a ransom demand, things begin to heat up between them. Will Mike be able to crack the case and save her dog? And if he can, does that mean that he gets the girl too?

    Excerpt:

He was relieved to find the lobby was empty, so he stopped back at Lara’s desk and asked, “Can you believe that shit? A dog napping?”

He didn’t think for a minute she hadn’t overheard every word. That woman was like the KGB and Secret Service all in one. Anything happened in this office, she had it under immediate surveillance.

Lara cuffed him on the arm and said, “She’s in the bathroom, idiot.”

Mike winced, feeling bad he’d probably been overheard. But, seriously, who hired a PI to find a lost dog?

Seconds later, the bathroom door slowly opened. He almost did a double take as the woman stepped out. Aside from red eyes that had clearly been crying, she was a looker.

She was elegantly dressed and somewhere near his age, with a riot of auburn curls trailing down her back, like some sort of mermaid siren. All ripe, lush curves. He’d always liked his women soft.

And, he was ogling this obviously distraught woman like she was a steak. Not that he wouldn’t be more than interested in taking a bite, but it was clear that now wasn’t the time. So instead of voicing his thoughts, he stuck his hand out and said, “Mike Diamond. And you are?”

“Cassidy Werner,” she said, not bothering to stick her hand out.

Well, apparently she’d heard him. He’d need to apologize, if the look on her face was any indication. He dropped his hand and said, “My office is this way.”

She gave him a look that screamed ‘You’re on thin ice, buddy’ but moved toward the open office door that Mike had gestured to. He followed her, once again appreciating the hourglass waist and full hips. Damn.

He moved behind his desk and gestured to one of the worn chairs. When she had settled in, he asked, “So I understand your dog has been kidnapped?”

Michelle Roth is a novelist from the Great White North (Toronto, ON). When she is not disappearing into foreign lands, or making two perfect strangers that she invented fall in love, she i probably curled up somewhere with a glass of wine and a good book.

In her spare time she is typically hanging out with her awesome boyfriend and their two equally aesome cats. She likes taking road trips to nowhere in particular, cooking elaborate meals then making other people do the dishes, and being nerdy on the internet. Her books are currently available on Amazon, Nook, Kobo, and any other place that sells absolutely filthy romance novels.

I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending just around the corner. I started reading traditional historical romances when I was a teenager, then life and law school got in the way. It wasn’t until I picked up a copy of Bertrice Small and became swept away to Queen Elizabeth’s court that my interest in romance novels became renewed.

But somewhere along the way, my tastes shifted. While I still enjoys a juicy Historical romance, I began experimenting with newer, more cutting edge genres and discovered the world of Male/Male romance. Once I picked up her first, I became so enamored of the authors, the character-driven stories and the overwhelming emotion of the books, I knew I wanted to write my own.

I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be angst along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.

  • Cover Reveal ~ Wild Pitch by Sloan Johnson

    Wild Pitch (Homeruns Series #1)
    by Sloan Johnson

    Coming June 18, 2015

    Wild Pitch by Sloan Johnson

    Synopsis

There’s never been any question in Sean Tucker’s mind that he’d do whatever it took to make it to the major leagues and be one of the best pitchers of his time. The day he acknowledged to himself that he was gay was also the day he vowed to stay in the closet in order to chase his dreams. The problem is, he never counted on Mason Atley.

Sean showed rookie short stop Mason Atley the ropes, both on the field and off. The two forged a friendship which continued as both of them moved through the ranks of the farm system and into the majors. Unfortunately, there’s always been one secret Mason never felt he could share with Sean. Until now.

For seven years, Sean lived with the fact that he loved a man who would never reciprocate. When Mason admits that he’s always known he’s bisexual but has never allowed himself to pursue a relationship with a man, will Sean be able to put aside his reservations about starting a relationship with the friend he’d always assumed was straight? And more importantly, will they be able to find a way to stay together when their careers keep them apart more than they can be together?

    Excerpt

I waited until we’d polished off the entire pizza and the dishes were rinsed in the sink before confronting Sean about what I assumed was weighing on his mind.

“So, are you still going to tell me you and Eric were just friends?” I asked, handing him a second beer. I’d switched to soda, on the off chance that he wanted to head back to the hotel. The only thing that’d make today worse was a DUI.

“We were. We are,” he protested. His gaze bounced around the room, but never in my direction.

“Bullshit. Trades are part of the game. We both know that, and yet Eric leaving managed to get into your head and throw off your game today. You can tell yourself whatever you want, but I know you better than that,” I reminded him. We’d lived together for the better part of a year, and not once was he able to pull the wool over my eyes.

“Fine,” he grumbled, taking a long draw off his beer. I thought that was the closest I’d get to an admission from him as he rubbed the back of his neck. Then he crooked a finger against the side of his chin, twisting to the left, then the right, then the left again to crack his neck. As I watched him go through his nervous routine, I regretted pushing him when he obviously wasn’t ready. Something inside of him clicked and he started to talk again. “There may have been benefits included, but really, it wasn’t more than that. Neither of us are stupid enough to get involved with a teammate, so we settled for getting cozy in the closet when the urge struck. We figured it worked pretty damn well that the two gay guys wound up in the same room. What we did was no different from the shit the rest of the guys were doing, except we didn’t have to go out and find a new trick in each town.”

“So you fucked and you were close enough that his leaving got to you, but you’re going to tell me you weren’t involved?” I shouldn’t push the issue, but I was pissed. I hated the fact that he was obviously in denial about what they meant to one another.

“Yes, Mason, that’s exactly what I’m saying. Look, just because I don’t want a relationship doesn’t mean I don’t want to get laid every once in a while,” he argued. “And not wanting a commitment doesn’t mean I want a random stranger. Eric understood that and respected it. He’s in the same boat as me and we did what needed to be done.”

“Then why the head trip? Ever since I’ve known you, you’ve sworn you’d never do anything that fucked with your game. What’s so special about him that he was worth it?” As I ranted, I thought I sounded like the scorned friend who’d never be what Sean needed. And how could I be when he had no clue that he was so much more than my just my best friend?

Sean jumped off the couch and started pacing around the room, squeezing the back of his neck. “Because other than you, he’s the only person who’s come close to understanding how much baseball means to me,” he admitted. “I knew he wasn’t cut out for no-strings sex but he was willing to settle for that for me. He’s a good guy and yeah, I’m going to miss him. There, are you happy now?”

    About the Author

Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.

When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.

Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?

Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.

  • 2 Year Blogiversary

    blogiversary

Two years ago today I decided to join the rest of the world and start a blog. I joined up on Blogger and I started. I have learnt so much over this time, like how to take great photos from websites like funktrunkchicago.com, in order to add an extra layer of quality to my posts, as well as how to use the best blogging softwares. Over these two years I have also made friends with many readers through Facebook. We all had one thing in common, we love to read romances!!! I want to thank friends like Kimmi Wakefield who has poked me more times than my husband; Shannon Ferguson, who is in just as many street teams as I am; and so many others I cannot name.

In these two years I have made many friends of the authors I have loved for so long. Like, Heather Rainier, Morgan Ashbury, Honor James, Lori King, Tara Rose and so many more. I have also made friend with many new authors (well new to me anyway) like: Caitlyn O’Leary, Suzette Cauler, Suzy Shearer, Lynne St. James, Maggie Walsh, Elle Boon, Cecile Tellier, Grace Ryles, Sloan Johnson, S. Reynolds, RL Merrill, Felice Stevens, Jean Joachim, and so many others if I named them all, this post would take forever. If I haven’t named you, please don’t be upset, I suffer from CRS and I haven’t had any coffee at the time I am writing this post.

To those of you who have opened the world of beta reading, thank you doesn’t even cut it. I never had a thing I did well. And with as many of you allowing me the privilege of beta reading……I must do an OK job of it!

I want to shout out to the Book Obsessed Chicks, especially the Head Chick herself, Kim Rocha, who have welcomed me into their loving craziness and have offered me friendship. Janet, Diana, Christine, Stacey, Voule…..Thank you.

I am now a member of RWA and Long Island Romance Writers – Chapter 160 RWA. Jennifer Gracen, Jeannie Moon, Jolyse Barnette, Patty Blount, Voule Walker, Diana Marick, Elizabeth Kastner and the other members, thank you for welcoming me to the fray.

I am blessed by all of you, even if you never get to read this post, just know I thank you all.

    line

At this time I would also like to thank all of you who have served this country. Without you, there would be no books for me to review or a blog to write. For that, I salute you and your service and remember those who have died.

    Memorial

    My Review

This is not just another baseball love story.  Each main character has their issues that can affect  their relationship.  One of them just happens to be a baseball player.

Caleb is everything a baseball team would want in a pitcher.  When he was high on his career, he let what his father did ruin it.  So now he is in Kilby in a farm team to try to get back what he lost and hopefully get back his mojo.

Sadie has the ex from hell!  Spoiled rich boy who humiliated, bullied and slandered her.  She gave in and kept to herself.  She swears off men…..until she meets Caleb.

Thrown together to improve the image of the Kilby Catfish, Caleb does anything and everything just so he can keep talking to Sadie to him.

Sadie tries so hard to stay away from Caleb, but can’t.

I love Sadie so much.  Instead of each other healing each other, they kind of heal themselves because being together they realize what really matters in life and screw the rest.

    ALL OF ME (1)Synopsis

Jennifer Bernard, the USA Today bestselling author of the Bachelor Firemen series, scores another homerun with a brand-new series about sexy, single baseball players.

Playing for the Kilby Catfish is hotshot pitcher Caleb Hart’s last chance to salvage his career after a major league meltdown. But the day of his opener with the minor league team, Caleb strikes out with the gorgeous woman who is delivering a petition to run the unruly Catfish out of town. Now to stay in the lineup, Caleb will need to score big with the feisty brunette he can’t keep out of his thoughts.

After the nasty lies Sadie Merritt’s rich ex-boyfriend spread about her all over town, she’s lucky to have a job at all. She can’t afford to screw it up by falling for the player who is supposed to be helping her change the image of the fun-loving Catfish. But that’s easier said than done when Caleb’s voice alone is enough to make her pulse race. And when he surprises her with a mind-blowing kiss, she knows there’s no turning back.
