  • Melting Ice: Game On in Seattle #5 by Jami Davenport

    My Review

Avery gave up on her sister’s dream for her, and decided to go after her own.  Ice has the nickname for more than one reason.  A crappy childhood with a bad relationship with his brothers have taught him to stand alone.  When something tragic happens, his life is almost unbearable.  If it wasn’t for hockey, he wouldn’t know what he would do with is life.  When he is cut from another team for being cold and not a team player, he is picked up by Seattle.  Great, right in his brother’s back yard.  Who knew running after his dog at his new home would have him running into the most beautiful and the most dangerous woman he would ever meet.

Avery knew he was trouble from the minute she laid eyes on hin.  But he is so hot and sexy, she migh not mind a little trouble in her life.  One time together would never be enough.

Issac’s nickname is perfect for the way his heart is, how people see his attitude on and off the Ice.   I am glad that Avery can melt the ice around his heart.  His name might be ice, but he melts Avery’s heart and mine.

    Synopsis

USA Today Bestselling author Jami Davenport presents another Seattle Sockeyes hockey romance and the fifth book in her Game On in Seattle sports romance series showcasing alpha male heroes of football, baseball, and hockey.

Brimming with attitude and broken beyond repair, Isaac “Ice” Wolfe has a heart as cold as his nickname, and he likes it that way–until he meets his neighbor Avery Maxwell. Avery is unlike any woman he’s ever known. Her smile thaws his frozen heart. Being with her heals his broken places. She makes him feel, and for Isaac that’s not always a good thing. Isaac has burned every bridge in his professional hockey career. When he’s traded to the Seattle Sockeyes halfway through their inaugural season, he knows he won’t get another chance. He’s never been a team player, yet he needs to become one–and fast.

Avery has only wanted one thing in her life–to train and show horses. Her decision to drop out of college to pursue her riding career causes a rift with her big sister, but Avery is tired of following everyone else’s dreams. Now she’s following her own, and no one is going to distract her from her passion–until she meets a dark stranger and his cantankerous dog.

When Isaac is warned away from Avery by the team’s captain, who happens to be Avery’s future brother-in-law, Isaac sees the writing on the wall. It’s Avery or his career. To Isaac, a life without hockey wouldn’t be a life worth living. But what about a life without Avery?

Do Isaac and Avery sacrifice their life’s passions for their mutual passion for each other, or do they fight to have it all, even if by doing so, they might lose everything in the end?

His high school sweetheart and best friend for as long as he could remember, Amanda, by his side, and the love and support of his family. One night, one mistake changed everything. Chris moves to New York, adrift and alone. A walk one night brings him to the flashing lights, loud music and thrumming bodies at club Berlin. A flyer in the men’s room promises fame and fortune for anyone willing to go on camera and have sex, with another man. Money is money, and how hard could it be, right? He’s had sex with men before, sometimes even using rope and tape. The only difference this time out be a camera.

Lincoln Carter is honest with everyone in his life, including his family, about who he is and about his sexual preferences. Linc Larson, the openly bi-sexual gay porn star will do anything with anyone, which pretty much writes his ticket in a versatility charged industry. It’s not his sexuality that interferes with his personal life; it’s his inability to trust.

What Linc wants right now, more than anything, is the chance to do a scene with All Cocks newest acquisition, Kris Alen. Six foot two with Auburn hair, an exquisitely toned and inked up body, Kris Alen is sex personified. Linc doesn’t know if it’s the “I want the shiny new toy” aspect that calls to him, or the distant and wounded expression that haunts Kris’s eyes.

Linc figures out early on that Kris is only working the gay for pay angle that All Cocks brings to his bank account. Can a bi-sexual man with trust issues break down the barriers that Kris has built around himself and help Christopher overcome the painful past he is running from.

Gay for Pay is a gay for you story about two men that will have to come to terms with the mistakes they made in their past, if they want to stick around and have a chance at a future.

    Exclusive Excerpt for SiK Reviews

With Colton gone and Michael and Max in their bedroom for the night, Chris and Jordan were left alone to explore the online world of sex toys. Since deciding to take the job, Chris had watched a ton of gay porn videos online and talked with Jordan to learn the basics of the deed, even though where it went and how it worked was somewhat self-explanatory. So he knew all about foxy lady butt plugs, dildos and vibrators. He also knew he would never be a bottom, so he wouldn’t need any of those items.

Jordan quickly went to a site where Chris could order a virtual plethora of flesh-jacks in every size, shape and color imaginable. There was a buy two get one free sale plus an added bonus lube kit that included lube and cleanser for his new toys. “One stop shopping,” Chris muttered as he handed over his debit card.

“Look at it this way; it will be a tax deduction next year. Along with any other items you purchase for your business like clothes, toys, if you take someone out to lunch to discuss business, things like that,” Jordan told him.

“Speaking of business…” Chris let the statement hang in the air, certain Jordan would understand where he was headed.

Jordan placed the order then turned to face Chris, handing him his card back, he leaned back in the chair, waiting.

Chris cleared his throat, and then downed the last of his beer before speaking again. “I’ve been watching some videos, and while they are very educational.” Jordan raised one eyebrow and the corners of his mouth upturned slightly. “I only know what it feels like, and what it looks like when giving head. Could you maybe, give me some tips? I mean is there a certain way to do it?”

Jordan stifled the laugh that was dangerously close to falling off his lips. Chris glared at him. “Never mind,” he huffed.

He was about to get up and stomp off to his bedroom, slamming the door, just so Jordan would know he had hurt his feelings. But then Chris remembered, one, he didn’t have a bedroom and two, he wasn’t a fucking chick!

“I’m sorry, shit, it’s just too funny. You should see your face!” no longer able to hold it in, Jordan was full on laughing at him now. Chris returned the one raised eyebrow, but the corners of his mouth turned down into a frown. Well, more like a glower. This, of course, only made Jordan laugh louder.

Eventually, Jordan was able to stop laughing long enough to give Chris some pointers on giving an amazing blow job. The look on Chris’s face when Jordan started describing the art of rimming was priceless, and sent Jordan into another round of hysterical laughter. “I’m going to stick my tongue where?!” Chris shrieked, and Jordan almost fell out of his chair.

  • Inevitable by CA Harms

    My Review

After a traumatic event, Harper learned how to erect and maintain a wall around her.  She refuses to let anyone hurt her again.

Easton never  allowed himself to think  of Harper as anything more than his best friend’s very beautiful sister.  One day she comes to her brother, Jett’s, place of business to let Jett and him have it to stay out of her personal life.  That is the moment he realized how hot she really is.

From that moment on, they could hardly stay away from each other.  Harper confides in Easton.  Easton’s past comes to haunt him.  I love how strong Harper is.  Easton is a very noble and loving guy.

    Synopsis

Harper Jameson, had built the necessary walls to keep her heart safe. Never again would she allow herself to become weak and vulnerable. Confident and full of attitude.

A mask she wore than many fell for… except Easton Black.

He was equally confident, cocky and knew what he wanted. Determined.  Things he wanted rarely escaped his grasp.  He was immune to the facade Harper had created.  She was intriguing.

It was Inevitable and Harper could sense that there was no way out. Easton Black would no doubt be the man that could change everything.  People aren’t always as strong as they appear to be on the outside…

  • One Step Further by Felice Stevens

    My Review
Reading this book reminds us never to judge a book by it’s cover.  There is always something deeper in a person.  Sometimes people put on a happy face to cover up some trauma in their life.  I totally got that.  Alex was one of these people.  But for that one special friend, that one connection to a certain person, that mask is forgotten.  They can allow that person so see to their very soul.  That person for Alex was Rafe.
Dogs know a person on a level that humans just don’t see.  When Rafe seens how Alex is with the dog he is watching, he knows there is more to Alex than he lets people see.  He tries to stay away to protect himself from being one of those people Alex uses to keep the pain away.  Lucky for him, Alex can’t stay away.
These two men needed each other to heal from their pasts and to mend relationships.  Their love was almost tangible to me.  The chemistry jumped off the page.  Read this in one sitting.  Teared up in many places.   Love is Love!
    One Step Further CoverSynopsis
Alex Stern has it all; good looks, charm, a job he loves and everyone calls him a friend. He lives life to the fullest at a breakneck pace, in the city that never sleeps. But Alex is also a master pretender; not even his best friend sees the pain that Alex hides so well. Alex himself isn’t sure who he is or what he’s searching for, he only knows that he hasn’t found it yet.

As a veterinarian, Rafe Hazelton loves each animal that crosses his path; they don’t care if he stutters a bit or that prefers men. Their love is unconditional, but his life is still empty; they can only give him so much. New friendships convince him it’s time to break the wall of loneliness he’s hidden behind since childhood and discover what he’s been missing.

Alex and Rafe forge a friendship that turns physical, and they both swear that the relationship will last only as long as the fun does. But when old heartaches come to light and secrets hidden for years are revealed, Alex and Rafe discover if they accept what’s in their hearts and take it one step further, the greatest reward is waiting for them in the end.

    About the Author

I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending just around the corner. I started reading traditional historical romances when I was a teenager, then life and law school got in the way. It wasn’t until I picked up a copy of Bertrice Small and became swept away to Queen Elizabeth’s court that my interest in romance novels became renewed.
But somewhere along the way, my tastes shifted. While I still enjoys a juicy Historical romance, I began experimenting with newer, more cutting edge genres and discovered the world of Male/Male romance. Once I picked up her first, I became so enamored of the authors, the character-driven stories and the overwhelming emotion of the books, I knew I wanted to write my own.

I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be angst along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.
