  • Closet Confessions by Kindle Alexander

    My Review
Originally read this title when it was included in an anthology. I loved the story then and I loved it just the same time time. Perhaps more so now that more was added to it.

This is the love story of Derek and Justin. Both work at a hospital in New Orleans. Justin is just out of the service where Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is still there. Dr. Baby, Derek, and he have hidden their relationship from everyone fearing reprisals. They should have known better though. This is a short sweet story.

If I had once critique, I would have loved it if the bonus scenes were worked into the book instead of just putting them as bonus scenes at the end.

    Synopsis
This version includes Bonus Scenes adding an additional ten thousand words to this edition. Closet Confession was previously released in the Night Shift Anthology.

Dr. Derek Babineaux is intelligent, dedicated, and one of the best ER physicians in the fast-paced world of critical care at Tulane Medical in New Orleans. Always on top of his game, he’s thrown off balance when the newest medical staff member finally unleashes his hidden desires.

Justin Delacroix’s job at the inner city’s busiest hospital might be just what he needs to ease back into civilian life after a long stint in the military. High-performing shifts make working as a trauma nurse at TMC the perfect way to utilize his skills and quick reaction times. There’s only one problem, his attraction for one sexy ER doctor is off the charts, but he has his reasons for not returning Dr. Baby’s night shift advances. Or maybe he doesn’t.

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It’s always a surprise to see what’s coming next!

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it’s true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women’s hair!

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life – I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal… I don’t want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I’m going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.

    My Review

Gareth has decided to be who he knows he is and not what people feel he should be.  In a heavy metal band he played straight all he could, but no more.  He never wanted to be in the rock band, but when his brother asked him to, he couldn’t say no.  Now, he is getting death threats and worse, they are escalating.  He now needs protection.
In comes Axel.  A SEAL, he lived Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.  He kills for a living, so babysitting a rockstar is not his norm.  One look at Gareth and he knows he is in trouble.  Sure Axel wants to screw him, but damn if he doesn’t feel like he wants more.
This book had me hoping for that HEA all throughout.  Axel is everything I want in my hero in a story.  Manly but with a soft heart.  Gareth is also a hero.  His coming out helps many kids do the same.  I loved this story.  Had tears at times.  Gareth and Axel share a love that we know is the real deal whey before they do.

    Synopsis
WARNING: This book contains homosexual relations and crude language. A sneak peek at book 2 follows the ending!

Former Navy SEAL Axel Blaze lives a solitary life. He doesn’t do emotions, and he doesn’t do babysitting. Used to being on his own, his job consists of Wetwork (a charming term coined by the KGB) for his former Master Chief, Mac. When an out-of-the-ordinary job lands on his doorstep, Axel heads down a path that includes a famous heavy metal rock band and one quiet, vulnerable, guitar-shredding virtuoso named Gareth Wolf.

Gareth Wolf’s life changed in an instant when a car he was a passenger in crashed, hurting his brother’s best friend and the band’s lead guitarist. They created the band, Skull Blasters, as kids. Gareth had always been happy in the background, playing roadie. With the lead guitarist’s injury, Gareth is suddenly thrust into the limelight and into a frenzied life he never imagined for himself. Finally fed up with living a lie, Gareth comes out as gay in a newspaper interview and finds himself in the bulls-eye of a crazed stalker. Somebody wants Gareth hurt – or worse – and Mac has been hired to be sure that doesn’t happen. Babysitting duty is NOT Axel’s strong suit, but Mac won’t be budged.

    Enter Axel Blaze.

Against his better judgment, the big man takes the job to protect the shy musician. The more time he spends with Gareth Wolf, the more he admires the man. Where’s a simple assassination when you need one? The situation becomes more volatile for each man as the attempts on Gareth escalate just as Axel finds himself falling for the quiet lead guitarist.

Strong, funny, smart-ass — and kinda sweet Axel is everything Gareth has ever wanted in a man. Too bad he’s off limits. As the stalker grows bolder, Gareth and Axel move closer emotionally – but is it too late? All Axel knows is that they don’t stand a chance if he can’t find the maniac trying to kill the man he’s come to care about. A lot.
Everyone knows that relationships that begin in pressured or volatile situations eventually fizzle out.  Or do they?

Cam, the only man he’s ever loved, falls head over heels for Drew’s teammate. He makes a critical mistake in the playoffs that he’s not sure he’ll be able to recover from. And then, his world really crashes around him…

Eric Sapp may no longer play for the Mavericks, but he’s still one of the guys. No one could have imagined how much his life would change when he agreed to help his former teammates mourn the end of their run for the pennant. After stopping a brutal attack, Eric is forced to face the feelings that’ve been growing for his roommate, Drew. That’d be much easier if Drew wasn’t hell-bent on pushing everyone away as he recovers.

Neither of them were counting on Bryce Shaw. He and Drew enjoyed the one night they spent together, but knew it was unlikely they’d be anything more since they lived in different parts of the country. After Bryce is relocated to help a failing LGBT homeless outreach, he wants to explore something more with the Mavericks’ short stop.

As much as Eric wishes he could be the one to help his friend, he knows Bryce holds the key to Drew’s recovery. Will pushing the two back together be the biggest mistake of his life or will they all learn there is strength in numbers?

There’s never been any question in Sean Tucker’s mind that he’d do whatever it took to make it to the major leagues and be one of the best pitchers of his time. The day he acknowledged to himself that he was gay was also the day he vowed to stay in the closet in order to chase his dreams. The problem is, he never counted on Mason Atley.

Sean showed rookie short stop Mason Atley the ropes, both on the field and off. The two forged a friendship which continued as both of them moved through the ranks of the farm system and into the majors. Unfortunately, there’s always been one secret Mason never felt he could share with Sean. Until now.

For seven years, Sean lived with the fact that he loved a man who would never reciprocate. When Mason admits that he’s always known he’s bisexual but has never allowed himself to pursue a relationship with a man, will Sean be able to put aside his reservations about starting a relationship with the friend he’d always assumed was straight? And more importantly, will they be able to find a way to stay together when their careers keep them apart more than they can be together?

Jason Klein’s living with the fallout from a decision he knew was the right one at the time. He never told anyone about the love of his life, which left him to mourn alone when he found out the man he gave his heart to had been killed in combat. Now, his heart has had time to heal, but he’s not sure he’s ready to let himself move on. Until he meets Cam Morgan…

Without a job lined up following graduation, Cam Morgan took his best friend up on his offer to move to Milwaukee and stay with him until he could get on his feet. The last thing he wanted to do the day after getting to town was go to a party filled with a bunch of jocks. Sure, they were “professional athletes” but Cam was convinced that bigger bank accounts didn’t make them any more accepting of people like him. He certainly didn’t expect to meet Jason, the Mavericks’ catcher who broke every stereotype he’d had.

What started out as one hot, sweaty night together quickly grows into something deeper. Jason welcomes Cam into his home and his life, but now he has to teach the younger man that it’s not a sign of weakness to let people help you.

    About Sloan Johnson

    Sloan Johnson

Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.

When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.

Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?

Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.

Can these two hunks conquer their intimate fears and love one another as only best friends can? Join the star-studded cast in The Manhattanites series and see for yourself!

    excerpt

He went over and peeled his nylon sweats off as Miguel watched, then dropped to his knees on the mattress. Game on. He lowered his shoulders and crawled forward, palms out as a panther approaching a meal. Hungry, reaching for his friend’s cock with his right hand, Blake stroked his shaft with his left. He witnessed his friend’s eyes roll back in pleasure. Other than his own, he hadn’t held a cock in his hands in years. Miguel’s pink head deserved his attention. A little freaked out by how easy this was, by how natural it felt, Blake tried to stay calm and just go with it.

Miguel moaned louder in Spanish then ordered, “You’re going to be a good niño and suck my cock.”

Nodding in agreement, he asked, “And then?”

“Don’t use your hands.” Cupping his fingers around Blake’s jawline, Miguel brushed his thumb over his lips.

“I’ll keep my hands behind my back.” He clasped his palms by the floor.

“Once I’m nice and hard, I’m gonna face-fuck you, hard.” He glanced down at his dick. “When I come, you’ll swallow me—whole, understand?”

“Is there anything else, boss man?” He pretended he’d swallow, but would spit it out, like they did in adult films. Yes, that was what he’d do. Or take it on his chest, or maybe his face. Maybe.

Miguel rested himself on the mattress. “Get started.”

Supercharged with enthusiasm, he leaned forward and nipped at Miguel’s dick. He ran his tongue in long strokes along his shaft. Spice, sweet and exotic, enveloped his senses. By far the biggest he’d seen, the dick was thick, too. Licking under the shaft, he produced enough lube to do his duty.

    “Taste good?”

“Ah-huh…” He couldn’t believe he was doing this.

“Let me watch you. Take me. Come on, boy.”

First, his lips glided down. The satiny penis head hit the roof of his mouth. He opened wider. A dive down further pressed his face all the way up against the crotch. The black pubes tickled his cheeks.

    “Doing good, boy.”

The cock twitched and slid in more. Deeper. Careful not to scrape the skin, his two front teeth rested at the base of his dick.

He looked up at his Latin God with a grin.

Miguel blew him a kiss and seduced Blake to continue. As their playfulness increased, he wondered for a split second what else he’d do for his best friend.

His tongue laced the nuts as he took him in further. Still nervous to pump the dick with his mouth, he continued to suck, sweetly. His nostrils burned. He thirsted for more.

“Fuck!” Miguel shouted. “Take my entire cock, chico guapo.” He pressed his body against Blake’s face. “Caliente.

    He jerked back.

His top became more fired up.

    My Review

At first I was like a vegan cowboy? Really? but it works. Dell was in a career that could be hazardous to his health in many ways. When a beloved pet dies, he decides that it was time to leave that career and go to the ranch.

With the help of his bestie, Paisley, they make his dream of a vegan/vegetarian restaurant on his ranch. A year after he opened the eatery he meets Pace. From there, the two fall hard and they fall fast. Their love forms during a time in this country where the GLBT community was on pins and needles waiting for the Supreme Court to make their decision. Pace stays with Dell through the storm and shows him how much being with man really is like.

I won’t say what my favorite part is, but I will say it is the last chapter and epilogue.

I have never read anything by Ms. Logan before, but I have to say, after reading this book, I will definitely give her books a read.

    Synopsis

Wendell Blackowl has spent all his life in the working cow horse show ring where toiling with sweaty cowboys all day is the fodder for wet dreams. Though privately he’s come to terms with his sexuality, publicly Dell’s had to build a façade. When his beloved horse Buttermilk dies, Dell finds himself at loose ends so he decides to pick himself up by his boot straps and do what he’s always wanted to do… open an environmentally friendly organic vegetarian café.

Pace Avila, well known music critic, has been drawn to Austin by the live music scene. When friends invite him to check out a fresh new dinner experience, Pace reluctantly agrees to push the deadline on his national column. He isn’t interested in vegetarian food or a restaurant with the cheesy name of Buttermilk Ranch Café, but the moment Pace lays eyes on the stunning cowboy chef, things begin looking up.

When openly gay Pace walks into his cafe and his life, Dell realizes he’s tired of living a lie and tired of being alone. When Mother Nature throws an unprecedented storm at Austin, the muddy waters threaten to wipe out everything Dell’s worked so hard to build. He soon realizes that with a man like Pace by his side, love really can conquer all.
