Being the single mom of a beautiful five-year-old was hard. I’d struggled since the day I gave birth to my daughter when I was eighteen. So when we got the opportunity of a lifetime—to start over somewhere new—it was a no-brainer. We had to go.
What I never expected was to find him.
With one look, our whole world changed. Travis became everything to us. For once, we were carefree and happy. We had everything we’d always dreamed of.
Then things started happening…
Bailey came out of nowhere and changed my life completely. I’d never known what living was until her eyes connected with mine and my world imploded. My days now revolved around her and the beautiful little girl I loved as my own.
Bailey and her daughter were now my family, and I vowed to protect them at all costs.
What I never expected was for someone to want to hurt Bailey.
If he ever tries to breathe the same air as Bailey and Gabby again—that’ll be the last thing he’ll ever try to do. By the time it’s over, he’ll consider Hell a welcome treat.

Travis lifts Gabby onto his lap, holding her like he would a baby. Gabby giggles, staring up at him.
“I am not a baby, Ravis.” She giggles, covering her mouth with her hand.
He smiles widely, “You’re my baby, always.” He digs his finger into her side causing her to scream with laughter.
“Ravis, stop!” She manages to get out through her laughter, tears falling down her face.
He stops, kissing the top of her head. He grabs the blanket, covering her while still holding her.
“I love you, Ravis.” She says so casually, not realizing the full extent of her words and what it does to change lives.
Travis’ head shoots in my direction, pure shock is what I see. I cover my mouth to not cry. My baby doesn’t tell just anyone she loves them.
This is huge, he is making a huge impact in her life. I just never realized how much until this very moment, she loves him.
Travis bends down and kisses the top of her head, “You know I love you too right, angel?”
She smiles at him, “I know, Ravis.” She pats his arm, yawning again and closes her eyes. He pulls her tighter against him, he runs his fingers down the back of her head.
I just watch. He is just staring down at her like his world begins and ends with her. I know the feeling all too well.
