To me, the perfect place for two is in a cabin by a lake.

In the winter, this is where I would love to curl up next to the fire with my man and drink champagne.  Then, make love all night long.

During the summer, we would go sit out on the deck by the lake and talk all night long about anything and everything.  And of course, we would skinny dip and make love anywhere and everywhere.

The funny thing about me choosing this destination as where I would have my romantic rendezvous…..I hate being outside!!! I know weird right!  But when I think about where I would love to go to be with someone, a cabin by the lake is where I would want to be.

  • Kira’s Warriors by Elle Boon

Kira lived the life of a pampered princess of a wealthy Japanese man who mourned the loss of his son and missing wife. She’d been given everything a girl could want, but nobody was allowed close enough to love or hurt her. All that changed when her life was threatened and he hired the Ravens as her security.

Thane and Garrick never expected to find their Fated, let alone that she’d be touched by a god. The legend of the Kitsune was steeped in mystery, but they’d need all the help they could get to save their Fated from the god who possessed her brother.

They’d need to travel into the deepest levels of hell and fight the Shinigami to save her and her brother. Kira realizes Thane and Garrick would give up their own lives to give her the family she’d never had. She would fight to hold onto the best things she could ever ask for, her warriors.

The saga of the Ravens continues with Thane and Garrick. They have taken over protection duty of Kira. However, Kira is not just an ordinary human she is more. Where most of the series takes place with Greek Mythology, this book deals with Japanese lore. Thank you Elle for making Zeus show up more than once. He is my favorite!

This book is full of action, passion and mayhem. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

  • The Five Stages of Falling in Love by Rachel Higginson

Elizabeth Carlson is living in the pits of hell- also known as grief.

Her husband of eight years, the father of her four children and the love of her life, died from cancer. Grady’s prognosis was grim, even from the start, but Liz never gave up hope he would survive. How could she, when he was everything to her? Six months later, she is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and get the kids to school on time. Both seem impossible. Everything seems impossible these days. When Ben Tyler moves in next door, she is drowning in sorrow and pain, her children are acting out, and the house is falling apart. She has no time for curious new friends or unwanted help, but Ben gives her both. And he doesn’t just want to help her with yard work or cleaning the gutters. Ben wants more from Liz. More than she’s capable of ever giving again. As Liz mourns her dead husband and works her way through the five stages of grief, she finds there’s more of her heart to give than she thought possible. And as new love takes hold, she peels away the guilt and heartache, and discovers there’s more to life than death.

I read this book in one day.  I could not put it down.  Well, that is not totally true.  I had to put it down multiple times to blow my nose and wipe my eyes so that I could read again.  Make sure you have water and a box of tissues near you as you read this book.

With every page, I cried right along with Liz.  My heart grieved with her.

I hereby nominate Ben Tyler for sainthood.  He was patient, loving, helpful, understanding and good looking.  OMG definitely book boyfriend material.

This is my first time reading this author, and all I have to say is if this is the quality of book I can expect from her, then I cannot wait to read more.

  • Godsend by Sloan Johnson Cover Reveal

    Title: Godsend
    Author: Sloan Johnson
    Genre: Adult, Gay Romance
    Coming: February 2015

You can’t choose who you fall in love with. Despite knowing from a young age that he was gay, Scott Murphy couldn’t imagine life without Shelly. He threw away the labels and had eleven amazing years with her, but now, he feels even more lost trying to figure out how to move on after Shelly’s death. After nearly a year of watching Scott fade away, Shelly’s father forces him to start living again.

As much as Chris loathes the idea of attending a bereavement group week after week, it’s one of the only places he can go in this town, other than the bar, to not feel so alone. When there’s nothing to distract him or dull his senses, he spends too much time obsessing over how he should have been able to help his sister. When Scott shows up at his group session, Chris decides that maybe some good can come out of his sister’s death.

There’s no denying that Chris is the first man to catch Scott’s attention in a long time, but how can he move on when just thinking of Shelly sends him to his dark place?

The road to recovery won’t be an easy one, but Chris is determined to help Scott see that life is still worth living. But before Scott can allow himself to admit what he feels for Chris, he knows he has to reveal the full truth about Shelly’s death.

Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.

When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.

Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?

Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.
