On Saturday, January 28, 2015 I had the good fortune to attend the Long Island Chapter of the Romance Writers (LIRW) Open House at the South Huntington Library on Long Island in New York. Unfortunately, I was a tad late, but not that late that I was not able to catch the panel of published authors. The panel consisted of Michele Lang, Jennifer Gracen, Meara Platt, Pamela Burford, and Patty Blount. Unfortunately, Jeannie Moon, who helped organize the event, was unable to attend at the last minute.
The panel discussed many topics including how each was fortunate to get published. Here are some key points that stuck in my head enough, that I wrote them down and answers to some questions that were posed (I might add my two cents in at times):
The RWA and their local chapters are great resources for any author. On the RWA website, there are many resources that can help you on many of the topics I mentioned about. If you have questions, I have put the links to LIRW and RWA below.
Please note, these are my thoughts and recollections of what I heard at the meeting. If you attended and feel I left something out or got something wrong, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment!

This win is a little bittersweet to me though. If you can’t see the fine print, Mary really won but because this was her contest she excused herself. The funny thing is, I knew she would win. That being said, I graciously accept this award. Thank you to Mary for running this contest. I am not sure who nominated me, but whoever did, thank you! Thank you to Cara Covington/Morgan Ashbury for writing Love Under Two Outcasts. Lusty is a fabulous series.
Thank you to those of you who voted for me as well. I love to review books. I am just happy that some of you actually read them. From the bottom of my heart……Thank You!
It has only taken me 48 Hours to switch over my blog from Blogger to my own domain. With the changes Blogger wanted to make, I decided, I didn’t want to have anyone’s restrictions of what I put on my blog. Since I do not make any money from this site, me putting an occasional photo up on my site that may or may not be “appropriate” but some won’t be a big deal. If a cover shows a little too much boob or too much crack, I don’t care.
So now I have my own domain. It is a .net rather than a .com, but don’t worry, I have that domain too, so if you enter it wrong, you will still find my site. If you accidently click my old Blogger address, don’t worry, you will be redirected to this one. I imported all of my old blog posts over to here too. I am so happy. It even looks better here in WordPress then it did in Blogger.
Yes, it cost me to have two domains, but the customer support from Go Daddy! made it worthwhile! I have 24/7 support with a real live English speaking person within seconds. And they are helpful!!! Yeah, I know, it is unheard of!
Anyway, it is time for me to go to bed. I am starting to feel under the weather.
Welcome to the new SiK Reviews Website!!!
Due to Blogger’s newest biase of adult content, I decided to get my own domain name. So, for my first post, I thought I would repost the story of how I came up with the name for my blog, SiK Reviews. So here we go.
“Ever wonder how I got the name SiK? Well, in high school one of my best friends at the time was this guy. His name was Joe. We were hockey buddies….Go Isles!!! He and I were also Italian and spoke a lot of Italian swear words in Math. One day I started calling him BJ…..he is like what does that mean? I told him Brother Joe. So he thought and thought and started calling me SiK. (pronounced psych) Sister in Karen. So, when I was thinking of names for my blog, I figured that SiK was unique so I went with it.
Anyway, I wanted to put out there that I do reviews, but I am also willing to open up my blog to authors for tours and spotlights.
Personally, I am open to review books, but I also beta read for authors. It is something that I am finding I really enjoy. I do not charge for beta reading, but I ask that an ARC be given when the book is finally ready for release . That way, I can review and keep a copy of something I had a hand in.
If you would like me to beta read for you ,or just review your book, please feel free to contact me by any means you wish.
My social media links are at the left, or you can use the Contact Me page.
Please feel free to leave me a comment and sign-up to receive my blog posts via email (on right hand side).
