As lead singer and guitarist of the internationally renowned Souls of the Knight, Sawyer Knight is living a life most men can only dream of. He’s surrounded by music, fame, wealth, women throwing themselves at his feet. He has everything…
Yet he has nothing.
Life as one of the world’s most sought after rock stars is tiring, oppressive and lonely. He spends every day being who the world wants him to be, who his manager tells him to be, who his mother expects him to be… all the while fighting against who he really is. Truth is, he’s used to it. He’s actually gotten pretty good at pretending… at living the lie.
Until Jake Reed, his ex-best friend and the only person who’s ever made him ‘feel’, waltzes back into his life as the band’s new head of security. Jake wants Sawyer – always has, always will. Now, he just needs to get Sawyer to admit that he feels the same…
“You will be mine, Sawyer Knight. The faster you try to run the quicker you’ll fall to your knees. Then, Sawyer… then you’ll be too weak to resist.”
I never had a friend that moved away from me when I was younger. But, if I had, I think I would feel lost for a long time. Not in any way did Sawyer ever think that the last time he would see Jake, that Jake would kiss him. Sawyer lost his best friend and Jake left him dazed and confused.
Years later, Sawyer and Jake meet again. The way Ms. Haken wrote their reunion made me smile. Sawyer is forced to face what he truly feels deep inside his heart. Jake will not take no for an answer. Jake said it best that they were not ready yet back then, but now, the time is right.
I could feel Sawyer’s indecision. Part of me wanted to smack some sense into him, and the other part wanted to hug him and tell him it would be ok. Jake has always known who he wanted and his determination and patients is admirable.
This book was believable and kept me interested. Love is love. This book earned 4 Hearts.
I was born and raised in Rochdale, England and have lived there ever since. Being a true home bird I now reside on the same street I grew up on with my parents a few doors up and my sister and family a few doors down. I live with my husband, four children and rescue puppies, Pippa and Gio (named after Giovanni Vecchio from Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental Mysteries series!)
When I’m not locked away playing with my imaginary friends I can usually be found running around and picking up after the kids (and husband!) and being the all-round house slave. Oh… and if my kids ever ask I moonlight as the Pink Power Ranger.
